What we do

Foundation models are transforming how we study biological molecules — from protein structure and function to RNA regulation and DNA sequence interpretation. Yet bridging cutting-edge AI with real biological questions remains a challenge.

Our focus group brings together computer scientists and engineers developing AI for omics with experts in molecular biology, life sciences, and clinical research. Through this bidirectional exchange, we aim to accelerate cross-fertilization, share resources, and catalyze technologies tailored to today’s most pressing molecular questions.

Our goals

Stay updated

AI for omics evolves rapidly. We keep the community informed about the latest advances through talks, paper discussions, and expert presentations.

Share resources

Foundation models demand significant compute. We connect research groups to make these tools more accessible across the Swiss community and beyond.

Promote collaboration

Early-career researchers present their work alongside leading international experts in a hybrid format that strengthens both local and global networking.

Who we are

We are a SIB focus group of researchers across computational and molecular life sciences, currently spanning 13 SIB research groups and associated members across Switzerland.
